Premier league Summer transfers 2014-15 season

We have seen lots of transfer activity this summer in English premier league as all clubs tried hard to get their team in a good shape. Arsenal bought Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United and Barcelona respectively and released Bacary Sagna and Thomas Vermaelen to Manchester City and Barcelona. Aston Villa did one good deal by bringing in Tom Cleverley from Manchester United.

Chelsea brought back  Didier Drogba from Galatasaray and bought Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa from Spanish league. They Sold David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain and Demba Ba to Besiktas. Fernando Torres also had to leave to AC Milan on loan. Everton signed on loan player Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea and also got Samuel Eto'o who was released from Chelsea.

Hull City bought Michael Dawson from Tottenham and Hatem Ben-Arfa from Newcastle United on loan. Liverpool signed Mario Balotelli from AC Milan and also bought 3 players from Southampton as they sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Pepe Raina to Bayern Munich. Manchester City signed Frank Lampard on loan from Newyork City and Bacary Sagna from Arsenal. They released Lescott and Gareth Barry.

Manchester United Signed Angel Di-Maria from Real Madrid and Ander Harerra from Athletic Bilbao. United released Rio Ferdinand and Nemenja Vidic. Also sold Patric Evra to Juventus, Shinji Kagawa to Dortmund and Danny Welbeck to Arsenal. Tottemham bought Federico Fazio from Sevilla and sold Gylfi Sigurdsson and Michael Dawson.

There are lots of changes in premier league club squad this year. We can see lots of different faces in each team and variable performances. We can hope this years transfer window will settle next 4-5 seasons of English Premier League and we will once again enjoy watching these clubs compete for a trophy.

In next post we will review first 6 match-days of English premier league and will see how only one club managed to put on a consistent performance.

The BALE dilemma

At-last we saw Gareth Bale signing contract with Real Madrid one day before transfer deadline day. But nobody is surprised that he became the most expensive player in the football history because everybody knew eventually he will join Real on record transfer fee.

After 2 months of speculations, debates and headlines, everyone was convinced that Bale surely will move to Real. But this was really hard for Spurs fans, he was like a superhero to them. He could have earned them that magical Champions league spot. But Real Madrid were determined to pair him with Cristiano Ronaldo. They were ready to spend anything for Wales international.

This whole thing was a dilemma for Tottenham Chairman Levy. To sell Bale or not? He must have tempted by idea of keeping him for just a season with club. But Real Madrid were persistent and they end up spending record transfer fee of £85.3m for welshman.

Tottenham made heavy investment (nearly £110m) this summer signing Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli to fill the void created by Bale.

Lets look at how bale transformed from Cardiff boy to Real Madrid Winger.

In 2006, at age of 16, Bale joined Southampton as a left-back. He scored 5 goals for them and mostly from free kicks. Just a year later, He signed a 4 year deal with premier league side Tottenham Hotspur for £7m.

He scored 3 goals in 4 appearances before sustaining an injury which ruled him out for a whole season. He was dropped from the first team in the season 2007-08 due to performance issues and replaced by Assou-Ekotto.

In next season, he was given a chance by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and after that he didn't look back. In 2012-13 season he was asked to play a more offensive role as a winger by Current manager Harry Redknapp.

In 2012-13 season he scored 26 goals in 44 appearances and the clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United started to show some interest in the Wales international. From the start of the transfer window he had been linked with every high profile club and Real Madrid eventually signed him. Now, Real Madrid fans must be hoping to see their team lifting the league cup or Champions cup or maybe both.
