The BALE dilemma

At-last we saw Gareth Bale signing contract with Real Madrid one day before transfer deadline day. But nobody is surprised that he became the most expensive player in the football history because everybody knew eventually he will join Real on record transfer fee.

After 2 months of speculations, debates and headlines, everyone was convinced that Bale surely will move to Real. But this was really hard for Spurs fans, he was like a superhero to them. He could have earned them that magical Champions league spot. But Real Madrid were determined to pair him with Cristiano Ronaldo. They were ready to spend anything for Wales international.

This whole thing was a dilemma for Tottenham Chairman Levy. To sell Bale or not? He must have tempted by idea of keeping him for just a season with club. But Real Madrid were persistent and they end up spending record transfer fee of £85.3m for welshman.

Tottenham made heavy investment (nearly £110m) this summer signing Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli to fill the void created by Bale.

Lets look at how bale transformed from Cardiff boy to Real Madrid Winger.

In 2006, at age of 16, Bale joined Southampton as a left-back. He scored 5 goals for them and mostly from free kicks. Just a year later, He signed a 4 year deal with premier league side Tottenham Hotspur for £7m.

He scored 3 goals in 4 appearances before sustaining an injury which ruled him out for a whole season. He was dropped from the first team in the season 2007-08 due to performance issues and replaced by Assou-Ekotto.

In next season, he was given a chance by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and after that he didn't look back. In 2012-13 season he was asked to play a more offensive role as a winger by Current manager Harry Redknapp.

In 2012-13 season he scored 26 goals in 44 appearances and the clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United started to show some interest in the Wales international. From the start of the transfer window he had been linked with every high profile club and Real Madrid eventually signed him. Now, Real Madrid fans must be hoping to see their team lifting the league cup or Champions cup or maybe both.
